Earning Reward Points in Mafia Wars is easy
Lately, Zynga, the online gaming company that owns social games such as Mafia Wars and Farmville, have come up with more and more ways to allow players to earn Reward Points.
Reward Points can be exchanged for various items used in the game including high level loot and weapons, and also to "purchase" refills such as energy & stamina, both necessary to complete jobs, fight, and rob which will all lead to the ultimate goal of leveling up.
The following tips for gaining Reward Points are all legal and designed by Zynga to encourage play. You may see "glitches" promoted around the game by other players, but be warned that Zynga is penalizing players for taking part in these. There are also the million and one links to pages promising any number of free Reward Points just for joining their group or page, but these are nothing more than spam.
Reward Points Given by Daily Chance Game
I should mention that these are all from the Mafia Wars played on the Facebook platform. I have never played on Myspace, etc.
1) Daily Chance Game: When your bar begins filling up, at the 4th section, you can begin cashing in for Reward Points. If you wait until the bar is fully filled (all 6 slots) you can cash it in and win up to 5 Reward Points. (At least 1, but up to 5 if all 6 sections of the bar are filled in)

2) Lucky Stash: When the meter completely fills (after 20 spins) the bonus button will light up.
Click on the bonus button and another window will open to reveal the bonus wheel. Click to Spin the wheel and receive either a loot item or Reward Points.
(even if you do not get Reward Points, I've noticed the loot is fairly generous dependent with your player level).

3) Sign up for emails from Zynga (you can choose what you want to receive from them, so this keeps your inbox from being cluttered) and when you respond to an email, you will receive a reward each day that you respond. There are different rewards that you can receive, but Reward Points is one of them so it's worth responding each day and maybe you'll luck out and get the Reward Points.

4) The regular Mystery Bags also sometimes contain Reward Points. If they don't, they usually contain something generous enough to accept them and find out what's inside. I have found a lot of Reward Points in them, maybe 25% of the time, which is fairly good odds in my opinion. (Another thing to keep in mind when opening Mystery Bags is to make sure your Wish List is updated with high valued items that you need. You will often gain an item from your Wish List in Mystery bags too).

5) You don't have to purchase a gold key in order to open a treasure chest, although sometimes when they're on sale in the Market Place for 5RP it can be alright. I often find a gold key in Mystery Bags and then use them. Gold Treasure Chest do not always contain the best loot, but you can find up to 100 RP in them. I have found 100 once, and then again recently I found 50 in one. Most often it is 5 or 10.

6) These are sometimes and sometimes not. You should take advantage of them when offered because they may or may not be available again for awhile. You can accept up to 3 Reward Pigs a day when available and so far mine have only contained 1 Reward Point each. Still, they cost nothing and 3 free reward points a day is definitely a perk.

7) You can also receive Reward Points by spinning the Lucky Stash Machine. In this example, you can see that I won 2 Reward Points from the payline. These are different from winning Reward Points from the Bonus Meter's Wheel as mentioned in #2. Often you earn "Free Spins" and it cost you nothing to spin, or you can use reward points and spin. Amount of Reward Points earned depends on the number of bets placed (up to 3) and the items that show in the pay line once it stops spinning. You can earn up to 100 Reward Points.
